St. Edith Stein Catholic Community
Katy, Texas

Jackson & Ryan Architects provided master plan design services for this newly established parish in Katy, Texas. Services included a needs assessment, programming, budget analysis and interviews with leaders, staff and members. Divided into six phases, the 15-year master plan is for a collection of eight buildings, totaling 143,000 SF, planned around various internal courtyards on a 20-acre site. The courtyards will engage in a visual and spatial dialogue with the adjacent buildings and provide an outdoor home to many parish functions.

The 1,600-seat church will rest on a divergent axis with that of the other parish buildings. Prominently located near the front of the property, the planned church is protected by a circular garden and prayer path, which includes the Stations of the Cross placed under 14 Japanese magnolia trees that bloom during Lent.

The initial phase will include two buildings, totaling 38,000 SF, and will provide for the parish's immediate needs of worship, fellowship and education.
