River Oaks Baptist Church and School Master Plan
Houston, Texas

In 2001 Jackson and Ryan Architects began working with the River Oaks Baptist Church and School. What followed has been an almost two decade long relationship. In addition to four new buildings, almost every area of the River Oaks Baptist Church and School campus has been renovated. The second master plan, completed in 2015, was the result of property acquisition that extended the campus to Westheimer Road. The driving force of this master plan was the school’s transformation toward 21st Century Learning with a focus on design based thinking, project based learning, including grade level maker spaces, and to increase enrollment. The scope featured a new middle school, renovated lower school, and a larger church/Sunday school/preschool facility, plus two underground parking garages. The next phase of this transformation is currently in planning.
