Irving, Texas
The Irving Animal Care Campus serves the citizens of Irving, Texas, a suburb of the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) metroplex. The DFW Humane Society and the Irving Animal Control Department coexist in the complex with separate administrative and animal housing areas. The stone veneer and heavy timber framing complement the architecture in the surrounding Hill Country. In the mild weather of fall and spring, the dog kennel rooms can be completely opened up by means of overhead garage-type doors, giving the dogs fresh air and a healthier atmosphere while reducing energy consumption and cost.
The Animal Control Department functions very efficiently in the back-of-the-house areas of the facility. The four-bay "sally port" allows animals to be unloaded from the trucks in a safe and secure environment. Quarantine and Stray Holding have ample air flow, separate HVAC zoning and enhanced plumbing to promote animal health.
