Alex Rea, AIA, Associate
Alex Rea was born in St. Louis. Early on, Alex loved assembling models that involved kit-of-parts and the additive process, such as complex Lego sets with elaborate instructions. As a child, he marveled at images of massive structures and machines and still admires the engineer’s pragmatism. While earning his Master of Architecture from the University of Kansas, he enjoyed the poetic ways design was discussed in academia. In his years of practice, he has discovered that the many stipulations, deadlines, and financial models of the real world, all make his job more interesting and rewarding.
Alex has been a part of Jackson & Ryan Architects teams that have designed high-rise projects such as Market Square Tower and 1661 Tanglewood. He enjoys the creative process of architecture and is excited to be a part of the team that is directly involved in affecting the skyline of a major US city. Alex has also gained experience working on school and church projects. He enjoys the challenge of discovering the best solutions in great construction documents created in collaboration with our clients and consultants. Architectural construction drawings remind him of more complex “kit-of-parts” from his childhood.
In his free time, Alex enjoys running, cheering on the St. Louis Blues, and waking up early on the weekends to watch English Premier League soccer. He especially enjoys his time with his wife Victoria, who teaches 2nd grade, and their son Elliott.
