John Benham, AIA, LEED AP, Associate
John was born in a northwest suburb of Chicago, where he started building mazes at a very young age. He discovered his passion for architecture in high school through his classes and field trips to see Frank Lloyd Wright's work and by studying skyscrapers inside the Chicago Loop. John earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from Auburn University. His first ten years of experience included Construction Administration for NRG Stadium, other sports and recreation projects, and international airport renovations. At Jackson & Ryan Architects, John has expanded his experience, working on a high-rise office building, animal welfare projects, and multifamily high-rise buildings. Johns interest in themed, immersive, and confounding spatial experiences brings him a unique perspective to the schematic design of a project's programmed spaces. As an architect John is interested in the spatial journey and the progression of one's mapping of a building's exterior to one's interior experience. He enjoys the challenge of developing each project’s details which create lasting, timeless buildings. In his free time, John enjoys live theater, visiting museums and theme parks. He and his husband are Foster Parents and have two rescue dogs named Buffalo and Nickel.
